Una historia de amor, una novela policiaca y un final sorpresivo.

Me gustó la redacción. Esta novela no está escrita de una forma tradicional. Hay párrafos que se repiten a través de la lectura, pero no están de sobra. Es una redacción jovial, con múltiples facetas donde el lector puede encontrar desde situaciones cómicas y groseras, hasta momentos de angustia y terror. Se entretejen momentos donde se disfruta la descripción de situaciones amorosas realmente hermosas. La historia ocurre en tres tiempos diferentes.

Marcus - el personaje principal, es un escritor joven que busca a Harry Quebert, su profesor universitario para que le ayude a superar un momento difícil al resultarle imposible resolver una situación de falta de creatividad para crear un libro que tiene que entregar a la editorial en pocas semanas.

Simultáneamente, el libro describe las situaciones que se dan en el pequeño pueblo al descubrirse el cadaver de una chica de quince años que desapareció hace más de tres décadas. La novela narra no sólo la trama principal que ocurre en Aurora - un pequeño pueblo costeño al noreste de New Hampshire, muy cerca de La frontera con Canada- También incluye situaciones cómicas estiló Woody Allen cuando interactúa con su madre telefónicamente, y con su editor.

La trama se va complicando pues en su intento de escribir su libro, va encontrando pistas de lo ocurrido en ese pequeño pueblo en agosto de 1975.

Excelente Novela

Esta es la segunda novela de Joel Dicker, sin embargo según entiendo es la primera que traducen al español. En mi personal opinión es una muy buena opción de lectura, en 2013 hay dos libros que he visto que estan de moda Perdida y esta, que he tenido de leer, a mi se me hizo de mejor historia, coherencia y credibilidad la de "La Verdad Sobre el Caso de Harry Quebert", La narración es diferente, interesante, inclusive hay momentos en que pareciera que es un caso real y te hace disfrutar mucho y leer rapido para saber que fue lo que sucedio. En algunos lugares lo ponen como un sucesor de Stieg Larsson de la trilogia de milenio, pero en lo personal, salvo que le autor es Sueco el tema no es tan obscuro como la trilogia de Millenium. El protagonista es muy diferente por lo que siento que algunos que esten buscando algo similar pueden confundirse por los comentarios de algunas personas.

Meg isn't sure that what they have could ever work. Train isn’t a man who likes change; her life is in near-constant flux. Train puts a high premium on trust; Meg has dark secrets in her past. The pull of their need for each other is strong, but it will need to be very powerful to overcome the challenges before them.

Best of the series

This is by far my favorite book in the "Nightshade" series. I strongly recommend reading them in order, it really enhances Train's transformation from a player to a deeply committed man. Train has been my favorite character throughout all the books. In the first one, he is the only person to call out Amelia constantly (which I felt was needed). In this book, Train meets his neighbor, Meg. They initially are just hookups. But as he gets to know her and her nephews (who live with her), he falls in love with them. It is a great transformation!
I do have a few critiques of the book. I would have liked to see more of Train and Meg getting to know each other and fall in love. Much of the book is about Nightshade and their issues. Pretty much we get to see Train and Meg hook up, hook up again, and then Bam! They are in love and committed. It felt like we were missing something. Also, in previous books, Train is portrayed as near-genius. I didn't really pick up on that in this book. I do feel like details were missing. Train has a scar on his chest. It is referred to several times and he actually leaves when Meg touches it. Yet we are never told what caused it and why he has such a strong reaction. It is like the author forgot about it. His tree tattoo isn't really explained, either. I read between the lines on its meaning. But I'm not 100% sure on it. And Danny dying really felt unnecessary. I didn't care for him as a character, or Amelia, but he didn't need to die. And I didn't understand why Meg was so secretive about what happened with Carlos. She did not have a choice in the matter and I felt she should have been up front with Train from the beginning.
I rated this 5 stars as I absolutely love Train and loved him from the 1st book. I hope to read a lot more about he and Meg in future books!

Love this series

I have read all of the books in this series and love the author’s writing style. The author has given us some rich characters and beautiful love stories with a lot of grit. Danny and Amelia in book 1 and Buster/Caroline in book 2. In book 3 we get Train and Meg and the story does not disappoint. I will say, however, that Train totally surprised me because after his previous wild behavior I didn’t expect such an affectionate, sweet man who strongly loves and supports those who need him. He wasn’t looking for love when he found Meg and her two nephews, but he found it and became a hero. Train takes Meg’s nephews and sees the bad things that abusive parents can leave behind because he suffered also from not being loved. He supports Meg in her endeavor to get back custody of her nephews and it was touching how the big bad guy falls hard for these young boys in need of a man to love them and guide them. I think Train is now my favorite character of this series.
Of course the club had more troubles and more fighting. There’s some gritty violence between the good guys and the bad guys along with some club in-fighting. We say good bye to some of the people we have come to love in the series but most all of them continue to walk into the sunset with a HEA.
I hope that we can look forward to more books by this author in the near future. Love her gritty, real life writing style.

I will say that this had a few huge shockers I did not see coming at all

Joseph "Train" Grimes has never done relationships, he has sweetbutts and other women to satisfy any needs he has. Now that the club has burned to the ground, Train finds himself living in a house of the the first time alone. Train had always lived above the bar/club and not he is enjoying the quiet. That is when the hellions across the street are quiet. After yet another incident with them ending in a broken window, he finally meets what he assumes is their mom Meg Castle. Train can't deny he finds her attractive and when he realizes she is actually the aunt to the hellions he makes a move.

What starts off as no strings attached loving ends up building into something more. Train isn't sure what to do in the way of relationship with Meg but he knows he doesn't want to lose her. Meg puts all her trust in Train even with her life a turbulent mess but there is one thing about Meg that Train doesn't know and it could threaten everything.

Excellent third book in the series. I will say that this had a few huge shockers I did not see coming at all. Loved Meg and Train, he is a bit of a jerk at times but with Meg he is incredibly sweet. Was looking forward to this one and not disappointed at all.

Polish cooking at it's Best.

My wife's heritage is Polish, and her Busia never left any recipes, most of them must have been from memory. However living in North Eastern Michigan polish food is as abundant as the fresh Kielbasa. I plan on trying the majority of the recipes in this book. Thanks to Marja, from a man who is only Polish by marriage.

Tho my mother was from Poland and she has bunch of Polish cookbooks but this one is her first "American" Polish cookbook that was written in English plus using our measurements in right way....She recognized some recipes but a lil different than she normally made...It's an awesome book and I dont cook Polish dinner often and that helped me whenever I borrow her book...Worth to buy it....even if you have daughter or daughter in law to pass this book along.

Good reference for homemade Polish food

Having grown up eating potatoes, kielbasa and sourkraut there are tons of recipes in this book that tailor to everyone's taste. There is a bigos recipe for each type of meat and they're all pretty accurate. It's tough to write a book on things your Mom or Grandmom makes without measuring so I think the authors have done a good job.

About the Author
Daniel J. Siegel, MD is a graduate of Harvard Medical School and completed his postgraduate medical education at UCLA with training in pediatrics and child, adolescent, and adult psychiatry. He is currently a clinical professor of psychiatry at the UCLA School of Medicine, founding co-director of UCLA’s Mindful Awareness Research Center, founding co-investigator at the UCLA Center for Culture, Brain and Development, and executive director of the Mindsight Institute, an educational center devoted to promoting insight, compassion, and empathy in individuals, families, institutions, and communities. Dr. Siegel’s psychotherapy practice spans thirty years, and he has published extensively for the professional audience. He serves as the Founding Editor for theNorton Professional Series on Interpersonal Neurobiology which includes over three dozen textbooks. Essential for all fans

I've been a Kuroshitsuji (Black Butler) fan for many years. While I'm rather partial to a certain young Earl, I find all the characters quite intriguing and fascinating, so it's natural that I would enjoy this collection of art featuring Ciel, Sebastian, and the rest of the gang, all illustrated by the original artist, Yana Toboso. Also included are some illustrations of her first work (which nobody even remembers, sadly) called Rust Blaster, as well as a few other pieces.

The volume, which is much too short for my preferences, features glossy, full-color pages filled with spreads and covers of primarily Bocchan, Sebaschan, though several also feature Grell and the other minor characters. At the end of the book, Toboso-sensei includes a small commentary on each of the pieces. The hardbound book includes two small bookmarks, one attached to each cover, as well. In traditional Japanese style, the book reads from right to left, though it doesn't much matter as the contents are entirely visual.

Any fan of the series, and especially those who have a love for Sebastian and Ciel, really owe it to themselves to pick up this volume. I believe in supporting the artists and authors whose works I find enjoyable, and your purchase of this work also helps to do that. This is a beautiful book that will be a part of my collection for many years to come, and I'm certainly hoping for a second volume (and a third, and....)!

The book itself was amazing...however...

The book was fantastic. Has wonderful art from the manga...!!! Simply Beautiful! However the book arrived with no protective bubble wrap or anything...so it came dented and scratched. The metallic embellishment was scratched and coming off. I give it two stars for the poor condition it arrived in although it was supposed to be new. I like my books in new condition, not slightly used.

Robert Carver is Professor of Business Administration at Stonehill College in Easton, Massachusetts. He teaches courses in business statistics, information systems, business and society, as well as the Department's Senior Honors Research Seminar. He is author of two statistics texts for Duxbury Press, and his research has appeared in THE JOURNAL OF STATISTICS EDUCATION, THE JOURNAL OF BUSINESS ETHICS, THE JOURNAL OF CONSUMER MARKETING, THE PUBLIC PRODUCTIVITY REVIEW, PS: POLITICAL SCIENCE AND POLITICS, PUBLIUS, and THE PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION REVIEW. He earned his A.B. from Amherst College and his M.P.P. and Ph.D. from the University of Michigan.

Jane Gradwohl Nash is Professor of Psychology at Stonehill College in Easton, Massachusetts. She teaches General Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, and Introduction to Statistics. Prior to arriving at Stonehill, Professor Nash taught at Quinnipiac College in Connecticut and completed a post-doctoral fellowship at Carnegie Mellon University, where she conducted research concerning cognitive processing in writing. Her current research is in the areas of knowledge change and judgment and decision-making. Her research has appeared in THE JOURNAL OF EDUCATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY, ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOR AND HUMAN DECISION PROCESSES, HEADACHE, JOURNAL OF CHEMICAL EDUCATION, RESEARCH IN THE TEACHING OF ENGLISH, and WRITTEN COMMUNICATION. Professor Nash received her B.A. in Psychology and Spanish from Grinnell College. She received her M.S. and Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology with an emphasis in Cognitive Psychology at Ohio University.
